After the big announcements on the X-Pro2 and X70 last January 21, 2016 at Discovery Suites, Ortigas, Fujifilm just continued to prove that they were not done with continuous development of all products. They also announced improvements on the X-E2, a new lens and flash. All things, photo fans appreciate as we consider photography gear investments.
Fujifilm’s X-E2S
The X-E2S is the company’s premium rangefinder mirrorless camera, an update to the award-winning X-E2. The Real-Time Viewfinder enables users to view scenes in a large display magnification of 0.62x*1. It also has an electronic viewfinder with the world’s shortest display lag at 0.005 seconds.

Other updates include an Auto Focus (AF) system the excels in capturing moving subjects. It also has an improved grip, electronic shutter and a more user friendly interface for photographers and everyday shooters alike.
Not to leave the X-E2 users behind, Fujifilm has announced a firmware update to be offered this coming February. They will receive a system upgrade in terms of the AF system, performance and the new graphical interface.

The X-E2S is available locally at Php 52,990 (with XF18-55mm Kit lens) and Php 36,990 (body only). Yes, it’s also available during Photoworld Manila.
FUJINON XF100-400mm F4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR
The new FUJINON XF100-400mm F4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR is definitely a mouthful but this super telephoto lens delivers. So to break it down, R stands for Ring or particularly the aperture ring; LM or linear motor which helps the lens be quick and quiet; Optical Image Stabilization or OIS is to help produce sharper results when using slower shutter speeds; and Weather Resistant (WR) that can withstand minor rain and dust.
The FUJINON XF100-400mm F4.5-5.6 lens covers a 35mm focal length equivalent of 152-609mm. It promises to deliver the highest image quality in its class and designed for hand held shooting. The lens weighs around 1.4kg which is still light compared to its competitors. Due to WR, it can also operate as low as -10°C.
This lens is built tough for outdoor shooting conditions. You can get it at SRP of Php 99,999 this coming February 2016.
EF-X500 Flash
The EF-X500 is a new high-end external flash to complement Fujifilm’s X Series cameras. This horseshoe mounted flash is a weather sealed model. It gives you the ability to control up to three sets of TTL off camera strobes. It has a high-speed sync mode that supports the X-Pro2’s maximum 1/8000 second shutter speed. This flash has a guide number of 50m at ISO 100.
It sports a backlit display on its backside along with a control dial for easy setting adjustment. It can tilt and rotate – 10° down, 90° up, 135° left and 180° right. It is powered by four AA batteries and also supports Fujifilms’EF-BP1 external battery pack.
This is set to be priced around May 2016.
Yes, it’s definitely looking like a good year for Fuji X-Photographers.
