We got to kick off last week at the 9th Edition of Wonderful World with Globe. The event was held no less than the Marriott Grand Ballroom at the Resorts World Manila complex. It was definitely a proud moment for Globe as they unveiled key elements to strive for their vision of the Philippines as One Digital Nation and we were just as excited for this as they were.
The event was hosted by Issa Litton who brought a lot of energy to the stage. The four key speakers were Globe’s best and brightest: Earnest Cu (Chief Executive Officer), Mike Frausing (Senior Advisor Enterprise and IT Enabled Services), Dan Horan (Senior Advisor for Consumer Business), and Issa Cabriera (Senior Vice President for Consumer Mobile Marketing). Each speaker shared key pieces in Globe’s plan to drive for a digital nation.

Globe has always been at the fore front of the Filipino Digital Lifestyle. It is the Network of Choice for smartphone users and proudly closed 2015 with 53 million subscribers. They embarked on a 1 Billion worth of Network Modernization and achieved it just within 14 months. Here’s what they have in store for us:
- Digital Thumbprint Program – The CEO recognizes the increasing demand of people for data but also the increasing need to foster responsibility of going online. In today’s day and age, cyber security, data piracy, and cyber bullying is rampant. Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program aims to inform and educate high school students on responsible internet use. After all one digital nation need to have responsible digital citizens and it’s always better to start them young.

Globe understands the need to connect homes and businesses for a truly wonderful Philippines.
- Google Accelerator and GoWifi – Nowadays, being connected is not enough, one also needs faster and better internet experience. Whether you use data for work, social media or entertainment, data speed is very important. Globe has partnered with Google Accelerator to improve your YouTube experience. Think no more buffer which is exactly what Google Accelerator does. What if you’re not always on Youtube, Globe now also has GoWifi which is a 100Mbps connection that you can access in Ayala Malls. Check it out now as it’s still at free usage.
- myLifestyle No Lock Up Plan & myStarter Plan– Gone are the days where you need to stay tied for 24-30 months before you get a new phone or plan. Globe’s myLifestyle No Lock Up Plan gives you a complete service package that includes data, call and text. These are for those who already have phones that from other sources like online shopping or hand-me-downs. If you’re looking to have your first plan, Globe can hook you up with one as low as Php 300.00. Globe’s myStarter Plan does include a phone, data, call and text. Don’t worry about a big bill, it’s fixed per month and you just top up if and when you need more.
The thing that we were most excited about is their announcement of Disney Mobile as an offering. The first of its kind in South East Asia, Disney mobile only used to be available in Japan but soon to be in Manila. We can’t wait for it to get here.

The event was very interactive. They had everyone try the services in the different booths set up which gave us a glimpse of what a One Digital Nation looks like and what a Wonderful World with Globe it is. The Philippines is definitely in for a treat.
